On May 19, 2009 we put out an SOS for two chain-dogs in need of new homes (page down to see SOS)
June 10, 2009 we are happy to report we have taken custody of these dogs upon owner surrender. Dosent little "Pixie" in the pic below look happy to be off her chain? And the best news is, she had already found her new forever-loving home! Thank you Debbie in Brunswick NY for adopting "Pixie." Dont spoil her too much now. Debbie promices to keep us posted with updates and will hopefully send some pics of Pixie in her new home.
Update: Pixies new ma took her to the vet last week and it turns out Pixie has an ear infection and also Lyme Disease. She is also scheduled to be spayed as soon as the medicine kicks in for the Lyme Disease and the ear infection clears up. Not good news about her condition, but it could have been a whole lot worse. She is well loved by her new mommie who will see to it that Pixie will get the best of care.
Dont she look happy to be off of her chain?

"Baby," the young rottie-chow mix, is still looking for her forever-loving home. We have had her about six (6) months now and she is doing very well as a house dog. She is housebroken and gets along well with all other animals....even our chickens. "Baby" is still a pup (just coming 1 yr old) and loves to play and will chew anything she can get her young teeth on. This is probably a result of being bored stiff when chained and left alone for so long. The old owners threw her a blanket and now she loves to tear them apart. She stops right away when you tell her "no," but you'll have to keep on eye on her while in the house as she will definately go back and try again. She listens ok but only for a minute, so some more training is a must. . She is a very smart dog who wants so desperately wants her own "forever loving home." She loves children also and would make a wonderful family dog. As with all our adoptable animals, we Guarantee you will love them or we will gladly take them back..

What a beautiful, kind, smart dog "Baby" is. Wont you help her find her own forever-loving home? Adoption fees waived due to the fact that the new owner will have to get her UTD on shots, spayed, and the other usual vet care. We simply havent the funds available at this time to have it done ourselves. Contract Required & No Breeding. SAVE-A-LIFE-NOT-CREATE-A LIFE,OK?
Here are some pics taken today showing her playing with a chew toy rolling around with it, having so much fun.. She is still very much a pup, and so happy to be un-chained. Still looking for that perfet "forever loving home."

(Below) Chew toy in mouth

Just look at that expressive face

This dog will be a good and loyal family member, if given half a chance. Gets along with everything and everybody,...yet still an excellent watchdog and she doesnt miss a thing going on in the neigborhood.

Albany, NY area:
My neighbor down the road has two "chain-dogs" and is being evicted from their home. They asked me to help them find good homes for them,...or else they will take them to MOHAWK-HUDSON RIVER Humane Society, our local hi-kill shelter. Of course, I am happy to have the opportunity to help these dogs find their new forever-loving homes where their lives on a chain will be no more, but they will be allowed into the home and considered as a real part of the family.
I am not certain yet but I think these dogs will need to be spayed & neutered and put UTD on shots.
------------
Pixie is a 3 yr old female Pekenese mix; timid, shy & scared of strangers but will warm up once she gets to know and trust you. She gives me great wags of her tail when ever I pass by. Like most chain-dogs, she is starved for attention, and waiting for a loving human she can call her own.

Large Male Rottie / Shepard / Hound Mix, young. very friendly and anxious to get off his chain;

Please if you can help place these dogs, it would be greatly appreciated. We can help with transport within a 50 mile range of Albany, NY. We can also offer temporary foster care but will need help with any vet bills.
